Hauppauge luggage brand makes a case for giving

Briggs & Riley, a Hauppauge-based luggage brand, is holding its fifth annual charity luggage trade-in event throughout the month of February.

The aptly named ‘A Case for Giving’ campaign encourages customers to donate gently used luggage at one of more than 300 participating retail locations. The bags are donated to local charities in each market and the company works with more than 100 different nonprofits across the country.

Those who donate a used Briggs & Riley rolling bag will receive a $100 credit toward a new Briggs rolling bag, or a $50 credit for donating luggage from other brands.

Last year, the company collected and donated more than 1,500 pieces of gently used luggage during the campaign. It hopes to exceed that number this year.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the fifth anniversary of our ‘A Case for Giving’ event,” said Richard Krulik, CEO of Briggs & Riley, in a statement. “We are hopeful that we can set a record for giving in 2019 and are grateful to all of our retail partners, including Dillard’s, for supporting the program in all their stores.”
