Town to hold affordable housing lottery Friday

The Town of Huntington Community Development Agency is holding an affordable housing lottery for first-time homebuyers on Friday, Feb 15.

Individuals and families who meet the program requirements can enter the lottery for an opportunity to purchase a single-family home at a below-market price if they are selected. The 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home, located in the new Harborfields Estates development in Greenlawn, is the second house in the development eligible for the lottery.

“Once again, a very lucky individual or family will have the opportunity to purchase a beautiful new home at an affordable price,” said CDA director Leah Jefferson in a statement. “Homeownership is the American dream, and the Community Development Agency is looking forward to assisting someone with making that dream a reality.”

The home, located in the Harborfields School District, is priced at $350,000, substantially lower than the $800,000 listing price for new homes in Harborfields Estates. It is expected to be ready to move into later this year as the project’s developer, Island Estates Homes, continues working to complete all 47 homes in the development.
