Long Island lawyer recognized as top attorney

Port Washington attorney Annamarie Bondi-Stoddard, Esq. has been named Lawyer of the Year for medical malpractice by Best Lawyers, one of the longest-running law publications.

Bondi-Stoddard is the managing partner of Lake Success-based Pegalis Law Group and has had an active role in Long Island’s nonprofit community.

“I’m humbled to be recognized by Best Lawyers as the only Lawyer of the Year in 2020 for plaintiffs medical malpractice,” Bondi-Stoddard said.

In addition to being a volunteer board member for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, she has supported the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, 100 Women Who Care and the American Heart Association.

Bondi-Stoddard says the lack of mentorship opportunities for women when she started her career has driven her to be a mentor to young women entering the field today.

“When I first began my career there was a lack of opportunity for young women attorneys to be mentored, and especially in the area of medical malpractice litigation,” she told The Long Island Times. “So as I advanced in my career, I sought out opportunities to be a mentor.”

Pegalis Law also sponsors the WE CARE Foundation’s annual golf outing, recently donated school back-to-school supplies to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless and has supported the Brookhaven Dress for Success program for more than 20 years.
