Chili Cook-Off and festival brings the heat

A hot time is pretty much guaranteed this weekend at the ninth annual Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival in Ronkonkoma.

The event, organized by the Association for Mental Health and Wellness, in collaboration with Suffolk County United Veterans, raises money to help people impacted by mental illness and at-risk and homeless veterans, including those with PTSD and depression.

Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will discover a diverse and creative selection of meat and vegan chili dishes from local food establishments, area businesses, and local talent.

The event also features vendors, food, beverages and children’s games including a Halloween costume contest for children under 10. Live music will be provided by The 60’s Invasion band.

The Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival is held at Association for Mental Health and Wellness at 939 Johnson Ave in Ronkonkoma. Admission is free and chili tasting tickets are three for $5 in advance and two for $5 at the door.
