Westbury Arts to celebrate Black History Month

Westbury Arts will host its fourth annual Black History Month celebration next month.

This year’s event, called Sankofa, is a forum aimed at educating and entertaining the audience on history and culture. It is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Church of the Advent at 555 Advent St. in Westbury.

The program features a special appearance by Uniondale High School’s Rhythm of the Knight show choir, liturgical and African dancing, stepping, spoken word, storytelling, singing and giveaways.

Admission is free, though registration on Eventbrite is required. The event is made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts administered by the Huntington Arts Council.
