Islip business owner donates Easter-themed masks
The owner of a Long Island dry cleaning and tailoring business is making face masks to help in the fight against COVID-19.
Danny Tran, owner of Islip Cleaners and Tailors, and employee Mareia Vargas, are sewing masks in colors inspired by Easter eggs. Clothing and fabric cleaning is one of the essential services allowed to remain open under New York’s recent PAUSE directive.
The masks are being donated to local nursing homes and are also being sold to his customers. Tran said he just donated 100 masks to Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center in West Islip.
“I just don’t want to sit back and do nothing,” Tran said.
