PinkTie launches pick-up service for food donations
The Melville-based nonprofit PinkTie.org is launching a pick-up and delivery service to help keep food pantries stocked during the COVID-19 crisis.
Enlisting the help of Late Night Chauffeurs, PinkTie volunteers will come to people’s doorsteps to pick up food donations and then deliver them to a handful of food pantries in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The new initiative will pick up donated food in Woodbury, Syosset, Bethpage, Hicksville, Melville, Huntington and Farmingdale. It will bring the food to Pastor Roger Blackmore of Genesis Church Food Pantry, Pastor Charles Roberts of Salvation Army Nassau, Mastic Beach Food Pantry and the Babylon Food Pantry locations.
Doorstep donations must be a minimum of one bag and include non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies. Pick-ups will be made Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
To participate, text your name, location and pick-up time to 631-397-1234.
