Drive-in movie becomes a pet project

The summer drive-in movie series at the Smith Haven Mall will be helping to raise money for Bideawee, the pet welfare organization.

On Monday, June 29, the series created by Long Island event producer Starfish Junction, will be showing “The Secret Life of Pets 2” and $10 from each ticket sold will be donated to Bideawee to assist in its local pet-protection efforts.

Called Movie Lot Drive-In, the pop-up series held in the Smith Haven Mall parking lot, has already welcomed nearly 2,000 carloads of movie goers since it launched earlier this month.

The schedule for next weekend includes “Toy Story 4” on Saturday, June 27 and “Sonic the Hedgehog” on Sunday, June 28. In addition to the regular evening films, the series features Midnight showings of “Young Frankenstein” on Saturday, June 27 and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” on Monday, June 29.
