Babylon launches new public arts campaign
The Town of Babylon is launching a new initiative that will promote and feature public arts displays.
Babylon’s Local Development Corporation approved a $100,000 endowment to support the local arts community and ensure that public art displays have the funding needed to come to fruition.
The town is partnering with Babylon Citizens Council of the Arts to start outdoor classes, drive-in concerts and help local artists and students create mural paintings.
Students from Wyandanch High School’s Class of 2020 will kick off the effort with a 12-foot by 90-foot mural at the HRHCare Health Center in Wyandanch. The giant mural, which will have a mental-health focus, will be the first mural of the burgeoning Babylon Together Art Trail.
