Deer sculpture grazing at Greybarn in Amityville

An 8-foot-high sculpture of a fawn is now on display on the lawn of the Greybarn apartment complex in Amityville, where it will stand for a year before moving out east.

“Deer” was sculpted by prominent artist Tony Tasset, whose work is included in permanent collections at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the San Francisco Museum of Art; and several other institutions.

Mitchell and Gregg Rechler, co-managing partners of Greybarn developers Rechler Equity Partners, will keep the sculpture at the Amityville rental community for a year before its final migration to its permanent home at the Canoe Place Inn in Hampton Bays, another Rechler Equity Partners project.
