Aw shucks: Oyster Festival goes virtual with Oyster Week
Like many other big events this year, the Oyster Festival will be held virtually in a week-long celebration.
The Oyster Bay Rotary Club and the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund present “Oyster Week”, from Oct. 16 to Oct. 25. Oyster Week, which kicked off Friday at Cafe Al Dente on South Street, will be a virtual festival with online events, including the annual oyster eating and shucking contests, a massive online auction and local restaurant week.
This will be the first time that the Oyster Festival, founded in 1983, won’t be an in-person event. But despite its very different presentation this year, Oyster Week still supports local charities and the local community, while promoting the beauty, history and resources of Oyster Bay.
