Riptide returning to Nassau Coliseum for second season

After its inaugural season was cut short by the pandemic in March, the New York Riptide announced the team will return to Nassau Coliseum next April for its second season in the National Lacrosse League.

The Riptide’s second season is slated to begin the weekend of April 9 – April 11, with a detailed schedule to follow, according to a team statement.

“After much careful consideration and discussion, we are excited to announce that the Riptide will return to Nassau Coliseum for the 2021 NLL season and we will work with the league to target the April 9-11, 2021 weekend to open the season,” Rich Lisk, executive vice president of GF Sports & Entertainment, said in the statement. “We can’t wait to get back to the floor and will continue to strictly follow federal, state and county guidelines to ensure the safest environment possible, and hope to have the opportunity to play in front of our amazing fans as soon as possible.”

Under the current plan, teams would report to individual training camps, some virtual and some in-person, under strict guidelines in mid-March, with all teams beginning game play in April.
