Plenty of sole in state’s seized sneaker sale
Sneaker aficionados will have a chance to buy some sought-after pairs of collectable athletic footwear, thanks to a state sale on eBay.
The New York State Office of General Services surplus team is offering 188 pairs of Nike Air Jordan and LeBron James shoes, as well as other unique and colorful models, that were seized in a drug distribution investigation on Long Island.
Images of the sneakers, along with 14 pieces of sports memorabilia, are being posted on eBay to ensure collectors can familiarize themselves with the items before deciding whether to place a bid.
The bidding so far for a pair of Air Jordan 4 sneakers in a box is up to $455.
Although not all of the items come with paperwork, several pieces have verified certificates of authenticity, including Upper Deck-authenticated Michael Jordan jerseys from the Bulls, Wizards, and the University of North Carolina. Items related to Derek Jeter, Joe Torre, Stephon Marbury, Jason Kidd, Alex Rodriguez, Scott Eyre, Mike Schmidt, Mark McGwire, and Vinny Testaverde are also being offered for sale.
