High school senior raises $9K in 100-mile bike ride
Luca Iallonardi, a senior at Hauppauge High School, raised nearly $9,000 in a bike-riding fundraising effort for autism awareness.
Iallonardi rode his bike 100 miles from the South Street Seaport in Manhattan to Smith Point County Park in Shirley in an event called Bike to the Beach.
Iallonardi took on the 10-hour long cycling challenge in honor of his 19-year-old brother Jackson who is autistic. He rode with team members representing the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America.
The Hauppauge High senior is a member of the national, social studies and Spanish honor societies, an All-National vocalist, and president of his high school’s chamber choir. He plans to attend Brown University in the fall.
