SunriseWALKS fundraiser kicks off next month

The 16th annual SunriseWALKS fundraising event kicks off next month.

The fundraiser, which benefits children and families impacted by pediatric cancer, begins with an online opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 27.

SunriseWALKS raises money for Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island and inspires communities to unite for a cause in hopes of giving children with cancer a summer free from the everyday demands of their illness.

Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island in Wyandanch will be opening for in-person camping on July 1, along with a virtual camp option for those families who are more comfortable with or who need distance-camping.

The camp is a member of the Sunrise Association, whose mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings through day camps, year-round programs and in-hospital recreational activities, all offered free of charge.
