Arts in The Plaza kicks off 10th season in Long Beach

The 10th season of Arts in The Plaza kicks off this weekend in Long Beach.

The weekly arts festival takes place every Saturday from Memorial Day Weekend through Halloween at Kennedy Plaza in the center of town.

Attendees can shop from over 30 different local artisans and on opening day Saturday, May 29, former American Idol contestant Evan Kuriga will perform live at noon. Additionally, the Long Beach Photo Bus, a 1971 VW bus that has been converted into a traveling photo booth, will serve as a unique photo opportunity at the festival.

“With regulations lifting we are excited to continue our 10th full season of Arts In The Plaza,” Sammi Metzger, the festival director, said in a written statement. “It is so important now more than ever to shop local and support small businesses, and we look forward to having that opportunity this year.”

Open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Arts in The Plaza features local artists showcasing a diverse assortment of products and services in various mediums including photography, jewelry, fine art, mixed media, clothing, accessories and home decor. All artists involved in Arts In The Plaza are also members of local arts organizations including the Artists in Partnership, West End Arts Visual Artists Guild, and the Long Beach Art League.
