Credit unions give $30K to Cohen Children’s Medical Center

The New York Credit Union Association’s Long Island Chapter recently presented a $30,000 check to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, representing what would normally be the amount raised by that group’s annual golf outing.

For the past 28 years Long Island credit unions have conducted a charity golf outing to raise funds for nonprofits in Nassau and Suffolk counties, but the 2020 golf outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the credit unions appealed to annual supporters and fulfilled their promise to Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Diabetes Program with a donation comparable to previous years.

“The pandemic wasn’t going to keep us from supporting the important work of Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Diabetes Program,” Joe Tedesco, president and CEO of Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, said in a written statement. “We and our credit union colleagues from around Long Island are proud to have been able to keep up this tradition of support for kids and families undergoing such an immense challenge.”
