Habitat for Humanity hosting food and clothing drive

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk will host a food and clothing drive at its Ronkonkoma ReStore beginning next week.

The collection of non-perishable food and new or gently used clothing starts on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The food will be donated to Long Island Cares and the clothing will go to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.

All food donations must be dropped off at the Suffolk ReStore location at 2111 Lakeland Ave. in Ronkonkoma by Dec. 17.

Habitat for Humanity is also seeking volunteers to work on one of its home-building sites or at Suffolk ReStore.

Another way to assist the nonprofit’s mission is to become a monthly supporter of Habitat for Humanity, where $10 a month pays for the nails it needs to build a house; $25 a month buys the paint brushes; $50 a month buys the kitchen tiles and $100 a month buys the hardwood flooring for bedrooms.
