Science Center opening pop-up location at Tanger
The Long Island Science Center will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its pop-up location at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead next week.
The grand-opening event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 401 Tanger Mall Drive.
The nonprofit Long Island Science Center, a learning museum with lab exhibits and other attractions, is undertaking a $15 million expansion and redevelopment of a 20-year vacant building in downtown Riverhead to serve as its new permanent location. The Tanger Outlets pop-up will be utilized as a temporary location while construction continues.
“We want the community to know we are open for business,” Cailin Kaller, executive director of the center, said in a written statement. “Our new space hosts drone racing, augmented reality/virtual reality exhibits, robotic exhibits and all available to families during holiday and post-holiday shopping at Tanger Outlets.”
