Lighthouse Mission gets donations from Ocean State Job Lot
Discount chain Ocean State Job Lot has donated 500 winter coats and over 25,000 pounds of food to the Lighthouse Mission in Bellport.
The coats were supplied through the chain’s “Buy-Give-Get” program and the food donation included Food4Vets meal boxes, which provide a week of shelf-stable food for a family of four. The donations were valued at $31,000.
Lighthouse Mission, Long Island’s largest mobile food pantry, seeks to “feed the hungry and help the homeless,” with a goal to empower those facing challenging circumstances to “overcome poverty and live purpose-filled lives.”
The faith-forward organization offers community-based outreach programs, clothing and food drives, religious education, and programs for at-risk teens and children living in homeless shelters and disadvantaged communities.
“Ocean State Job Lot is proud to support Lighthouse Mission and its goal to bring hope and provide relief to families in need across Long Island,” David Sarlitto, executive director of Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation, said in a company statement. “We hope this donation will provide nourishment and warmth during this critical time of need for so many.”
Ocean State Job Lot has 147 stores in the Northeast, including three on Long Island in East Northport, Centereach and North Babylon.
