Crate and Barrel opens Riverhead store

Crate and Barrel has opened a new store at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.

The 15,000-square-foot store is the chain’s second on Long Island, with the other location on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.

Crate and Barrel offers contemporary and modern furniture, housewares, décor, entertaining items, kitchen accessories and more.

Founded by Gordon and Carole Segal in 1962, Crate and Barrel’s first store was in an old elevator factory in Chicago, which used crates and barrels as display fixtures. The retail chain is now owned by the Otto Group conglomerate based in Hamburg, Germany and has 89 stores and eight outlets across the U.S. and Canada with 15 international franchise locations.

The Crate and Barrel store at Tanger Outlets is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
