Spring beach cleanup and scavenger hunt in Oyster Bay

The Town of Oyster Bay is inviting residents to participate in its Spring Beach Cleanup and Marine Education Expo.

The event, co-sponsored by Friends of the Bay, takes place at three different locations from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 16.

While volunteers will help clean up the beaches and park areas, kids can also participate in a scavenger hunt.

The central meeting place will be at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park launching ramps and waterfront gazebo off of Larrabee Ave. in Oyster Bay. Additional locations for the clean-up include Stehli Beach in Bayville and Centre Island Beach in Bayville. In prior years, beach cleanup events have resulted in 40,000 pounds of debris collected by volunteers.
