Backyard Barbeque wins NYS Business Council award

Backyard Barbeque, a popular Freeport restaurant, was named the winner of the inaugural Minority & Women’s Business Award from the Business Council of New York State.

Located at 300 Woodcleft Ave., Backyard Barbeque features a traditional southern-style menu offering ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled-pork and many other items. The restaurant was nominated for the Business Council award by Assemblymember Taylor Darling.

“We are grateful to be able to give back to our community and grateful to Assemblymember Darling for acknowledging and nominating us,” said Kenneth Ware, co-owner of Backyard Barbeque. “If you want to try the best barbeque on Long Island come over and see us.”

The Minority & Women’s Business Award was created based on the Business Council’s belief in the continued promotion of economic growth and prosperity for all and that opportunity should be given to all employers, regardless of race or creed. The award honors minority, women, and LGBTQ businesses by recognizing their history and success.

The Minority and Women’s Business Award is sponsored by National Grid.
