Applications begin for new affordable apartments

Applications are now being accepted for a lottery that will choose tenants for a new affordable apartment complex in Port Jefferson.

The development, called Port Jefferson Crossing, is a partnership between the Community Development Corporation of Long Island and Conifer Realty. It is bringing 45 rental apartments over 3,200 square feet of retail space to a site next to the Port Jefferson Long Island Rail Road station.

The complex will be a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments available for people earning between 30 percent and 95 percent of the area median income.

The new apartments feature vinyl plank flooring, energy-star-rated appliances, and fixtures, including a glass-top range stove, dishwasher, and microwave. Additional amenities include a fitness center, smart-card laundry center, and a great room to host social gatherings.

All of the applications must be postmarked by Monday, Jan. 9 to be eligible for the Jan. 19 lottery drawing. To apply for the lottery or get more information visit: coniferllc.com/properties/port-jefferson-crossing/
