Winter Sing-Sign-Along takes off at MacArthur Airport

The inaugural Winter Holiday Sing-Sign-Along Concert was recently held at Long Island MacArthur Airport.

The concert was hosted by the Town of Islip Disability Advisory Board in partnership with The Music Academy for Special Learners and Suffolk Independent Living Organization.

The event, attended by town and airport officials, was aimed at spreading holiday cheer with music and American Sign Language to connect people with differing abilities.

“Inclusivity and representation are the cornerstones of effective advocacy, especially for under-served groups, such as the deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired community,” James O’Connor, an Islip councilman and chairperson of the Disability Advisory Board, said in a town statement. “This is why events such as these are important, because it is welcoming for all.”
