Jets and Sharks to face off at Argyle Theater
The Argyle Theater will be taking it to the streets with its upcoming presentation of the classic Broadway musical “West Side Story.”
The famous love story with an urban backdrop will be performed at the Babylon venue from Thursday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, April 2.
With the familiar score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the updated version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet has two lovers caught between rival Jets and Sharks gangs. Their struggle involving prejudice and violence on the streets of New York City is an unforgettable and unfortunately still-relevant story today.
The Argyle’s “West Side Story” is directed by Evan Pappas and Todd Underwood, choreographed by Underwood, with musical direction by Christopher Littlefield.
The talented cast includes actors with national and regional touring experience, featuring Wes Williams as Tony; Sabina Collazo as Maria; Rosie García as Anita; Lucas Rodriguez as Bernardo, Michael Morley as Riff; and many others.
Tickets are priced from $59 to $79 and may be purchased online at www.argyletheatre.com
