Winters Center holds golf outing at Sebonack

The 3rd annual Joe Winters Memorial Golf Outing was held at the Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton last week.

The event raised funds for the Winters Center for Autism which opened last June at 92 Mahan St. in West Babylon. The 14,000-square-foot facility is aimed at helping to create jobs and provide job placement services for people with autism, since more than 90 percent of those are unemployed. The center assists Long Island employers develop and implement job-training programs for adults with autism.

The nonprofit organization was established in 2019 by former Winters Bros. Waste Systems President and CEO Joe Winters, who died in Jan. 2021 at the age of 54 after a brief battle with COVID-19. His wife Michele and the Winters family have carried on his dream to develop the Winters Center and the Sebonack outing is one of the many events that helps support their mission.
