Paddle fundraiser to benefit Save the Sound
The annual Paddle for the Sound fundraiser hits the water this week to support the Save the Sound nonprofit.
The event brings together athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and activists for either a leisure paddle, or a kayak, stand up paddle board, and canoe competition for those who want to challenge themselves. Funds raised go towards protecting the Long Island Sound and its rivers, restoring local ecosystems, fighting climate change, and saving endangered lands.
From July 29 to August 6, participants will take to the water with their favorite activity tracker turned on. They will start their virtual races from self-selected launch points, tracking their miles with each excursion and send screenshots of their distance to send to the Paddle for the Sound team who will compile the results. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded for total distance paddled and total funds raised to take action for the environment.
Participants can register up until Friday, August 4 at: savethesound.org/paddle
