New restaurant Cinnabar to open in Massapequa

Cinnabar, a new restaurant featuring Chinese and Japanese cuisine, is opening in Massapequa.

The 165-seat eatery, slated to open on Friday, Oct. 20, is located in a 5,500-square-foot building at 45 Carmans Road that was formerly occupied by Ben’s Crab.

Led by Cindy Ren, the Cinnabar team boasts experience at a portfolio of New York City-area restaurants that include The Attic, Himitsu, Tavern 157, Siam Thai, Izakaya Nana, and Baohub.

“It’s been a dream of mine for a long time to introduce the food that I grew up with to Long Island, which I came to call home,” Ren said in a written statement. “I couldn’t be more excited watching this manifest with the opening of Cinnabar.”

Among the many menu items featured at Cinnabar are Lychee Shrimp Lollipop, a Dim Sum Box Sampler, and inventive sushi-bar offerings with specialty sushi rolls named after the five elements.

Cinnabar will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays; 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
