PSEG Long Island employees raise $58K to fight breast cancer

Dozens of PSEG Long Island employees, their family members and friends took to Jones Beach State Park and Riverhead’s Grangebel Park this fall to fight breast cancer.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, 120 members of Team PSEG Long Island raised funds, celebrated survivors and increased awareness about breast cancer by walking in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event at Jones Beach. Another Making Strides event in Riverhead also brought out dozens of PSEG Long Island breast cancer fighters last month.

This year, PSEG Long Island and its nearly 20 teams raised more than $58,000 for the cause, a figure that does not yet include money that will be added through the PSEG Foundation’s matching gifts program through the end of the year.

As a flagship sponsor of Long Island’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks, PSEG Long Island, its employees and their families have raised more than $639,000 over the last decade to support this event.

“Our employees’ commitment to their community and their neighbors never ceases to amaze me,” David Lyons, PSEG Long Island’s interim president and COO, said in a company statement. “PSEG Long Island has partnered with the American Cancer Society to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for 10 years, and we are so proud that together our participation in this event has made a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer.”
