Newly renovated park opens in Brentwood

Local elected officials were joined by community leaders last week to reopen a newly renovated park in Brentwood.

Ross Memorial Park, which was shuttered by the Town of Islip in Sept. 2020 because of illegal activity and loitering, is now open to the public with new features.

The renovations include a new parking lot providing families convenient access to the park; a new playground structure and swings with a safety play surface; new fencing around the perimeter of the park; a new pavilion, and new lighting structures.

In addition, there are more ongoing improvements to the park, including benches surrounding the playground; sound and lighting for the pavilion, game tables, picnic tables and a storage shed.
