Long Island Nets host all-girls basketball clinic

The Long Island Nets hosted 50 girls from the local community for an all-girls basketball clinic last Sunday.

The clinic, called “Her Time to Shine,” was held at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury.

The participants, ages 8 to 16, were taught basketball fundamentals and sports safety by Long Island Nets Basketball Academy clinicians. As an added bonus, the girls were surprised by a visit from New York Liberty point guard Courtney Vandersloot.

The Long Island Nets’ “Her Time to Shine” clinics are dedicated to championing change on behalf of girls and women by providing them with positive spaces to connect and collaborate through the game of basketball.
