American Kidney Fund golf event to honor two Long Islanders
The American Kidney Fund’s 19th annual NY Golf Classic will be honoring two deserving Long Islanders this year.
The two honorees at the fundraising event, scheduled for Monday, July 29 at the North Hills Country Club, are Jared Silverman, personnel director at Huntington-based Maximum Security and attorney Marna Bernstein, a partner at the Cullen and Dykman law firm in Uniondale.
The event is especially personal for Silverman. The Lindenhurst resident, an EMT, firefighter and U.S. Army veteran, is responsible for about 11,000 hours of personnel scheduling each week. And he’s also a kidney patient.
Silverman, who receives dialysis three days a week, for four hours at a time, has IgA nephropathy, a rare kidney disease that has no cure. His boss, Michael Mancusi, founder and CFO of Maximum Security, is a kidney donor, who hopes this year’s NY Golf Classic and Dinner raises plenty of money and awareness for kidney disease.
“Jared’s resilience in the face of adversity is truly inspiring, and his dedication to our mission is unwavering,” Mancusi said in a written statement. “We are honored to announce that Jared has been selected as this year’s American Kidney Fund Golf Classic honoree. This recognition is a testament to Jared’s strength and commitment, and we are incredibly proud to have him as a member of our team.”
Bernstein represents banks and other lending institutions in commercial real estate finance transactions in the Banking & Financial Services department for Cullen and Dykman, counseling clients in structuring, documenting and closing transactions, construction loans, loan sales and acquisitions, bad-debt restructuring and workouts. She also represents owners of commercial real estate projects on the acquisition, sale and financing of their assets and projects, and is the manager of the firm’s residential real estate lending group.
“I’m excited to be working with the American Kidney Fund this year to raise awareness about AKF and their efforts to support those affected by kidney disease,” Bernstein said on LinkedIn.
