Annual 5K run benefits local nonprofit The Safe Center
The Safe Center, a Bethpage-based nonprofit victim service organization, will host its annual 5K run next month.
The event, “Support, Empower, Bloom: Spring Race Supporting Survivors,” will be held at The Safe Center offices at 15 Grumman Road West in Bethpage at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 7.
Funds raised from the 5K will go to support the critical work of The Safe Center’s staff in their mission to support and empower victims of interpersonal violence and abuse. For their participation, registrants will also receive a 2024 event t-shirt.
The Safe Center was created in 2014 by the merger of the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Coalition Against Child Abuse & Neglect. The organization provides comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence, child sexual and severe physical abuse, rape and sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse.
Runners can register for $35 (before March 19) at https://tscli.org/5k-race/. A quarter-mile fun run for novice runners and kids will also be held earlier that day at 8:15 a.m. for a $5 fee.
