Town to host blood drive at Smithtown Senior Citizen Center
The Town of Smithtown Personnel Department will hold their annual blood drive on Wednesday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Smithtown Senior Citizen Center.
The center is located at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown.
The blood drive was organized by the Town of Smithtown in collaboration with the Senior Citizen Center and New York Blood Center.
Participating community members who donate blood will also receive a free box of Girl Scout cookies.
“Every year we see residents and town employees come together to give the gift of life,” Town of Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim said in a statement. “I’m confident that this year we will see even more participation.”
Donors must be between the ages of 17 and 75, weigh over 110 lbs, and have no new tattoos for the past three months to meet eligibility requirements.
The entire process takes about 10 minutes, and while walk-ins are welcomed, appointments are preferred. A donor card or ID is required to donate.To schedule an appointment and acquire a donor card, visit www.nybc.org.
