Gershow collects scrap metal to benefit Tesla Science Center
Gershow Recycling recently sponsored and took part in “Metal for Tesla,” a scrap metal recycling fundraising event at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSCW) in Shoreham.
As part of the fundraiser, which took place during Earth Day weekend, Gershow provided the use of a container and collected 20,464 pounds of scrap metal for recycling, keeping it from becoming landfill waste.
A total of $2,171 was raised through the fundraiser and donations made by Gershow, helping the organization to pay for renovations at Wardenclyffe.
The site is the only remaining laboratory of the famous inventor, Nikola Tesla. Plans for the property include a Tesla museum, an Education and Visitor Center with space to host community workshops, and an innovation center for startup companies to help launch their businesses.Gershow, which has eight Long Island locations, has been providing scrap metal containers for fundraisers for TSCW since 2013.
