AHRC Suffolk celebrates grand opening of new Educare Playground

AHRC Suffolk recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of its new Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center playground in Bohemia.

Families and local legislators welcomed the state-of-the-art playground, designed to support the physical and developmental needs of children enrolled in school at the Educare Center. The playground features inclusive play equipment, sensory-friendly spaces, and safe, engaging areas for all children to explore and enjoy.

Local legislators including State Sen. Alexis Weik, Town of Islip Councilman Jim O’Connor, and representatives from U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino, State Sen. Monica Martinez, and Governor Kathy Hochul’s offices were also in attendance to show their support.

“The new Educare playground at AHRC Suffolk is a shining example of how targeted investments can make a profound difference in our communities,” said Hope Knight, president, CEO and commissioner of Empire State Development. “This inclusive space will not only provide joy and recreation for children with diverse needs, but also support their educational and therapeutic development.”

The organization expressed gratitude for the public funding of the project through the New York State Empire State Development Not-for-Profit Capital Grant. “We are deeply thankful to the New York State Empire State Development Grant for their unwavering support,” said John McGuigan, CEO of AHRC Suffolk.
