Suffolk Credit Union partners with FHLBNY on $10K grant for Suffolk AME Cares Foundation

The Suffolk AME Cares Foundation (AME Cares) was recently awarded a $10,000 Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) Small Business Recovery Grant from Suffolk Credit Union.

Under the Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) Program, FHLBNY members, including Suffolk Credit Union, are able to provide grants to qualifying small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have faced economic challenges due to the rate environment, inflation, supply-chain constraints and/or rising energy costs.

“On behalf of the entire executive board of the Suffolk AME Cares Foundation, I am deeply grateful to accept this extremely generous grant of $10,000 from Laura Racioppi, vice president of Corporate and Community Partnerships at the Suffolk Credit Union, along with her entire leadership team,” said Suffolk AME President, Daniel C. Levler. “With the assistance of our friends from the Suffolk Credit Union, AME Cares will continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of both our members and the communities in which they serve.”

Michele Dean, CEO and president of Suffolk Credit Union, commented, “We are deeply gratified to help AME Cares continue and expand the outstanding support it provides on so many levels. The organization’s initiatives make Suffolk County a better place for the entire community.”

One notable initiative supported by the Suffolk AME Cares Foundation is the Serenity Gardens, a first-of-its-kind park located on the grounds of Brookwood Hall Park in East Islip that is specifically designed for individuals with special needs. Once it is completed, the park will support people who are visually and/or hearing impaired, on the autism spectrum, or suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Seniors, veterans, and the general public will also have access to the park’s resources.
