Sweet new chapter for iconic Port Washington pizzeria

The Nicholas Center, a Port Washington-based nonprofit supporting individuals with autism through community-based programming and vocational training, opened a new location in Port Washington for its vocational skills programs and TNC Chocolate Lab.

The new site takes over the location formerly occupied by Andy’s Pizzeria, a Port Washington landmark once frequented by singer Perry Como and generations of local families.

The new location will provide job training and paid employment opportunities for individuals with autism at the TNC Chocolate Lab, where employees make and sell chocolate-covered pretzels, oreos and more.

“We are thrilled and excited to grow our vocational skills program and the TNC Chocolate Lab in a location steeped in Port Washington history,” said Stella Spanakos, co-founder of The Nicholas Center. “We are now able to accommodate more autistic individuals looking for training and jobs.”

Andy Bellini of Andy’s Pizzeria praised the new expansion in a statement.

“We are honored to welcome The Nicholas Center family here to expand their services and offer opportunities to those who so deserve it.”
