Barktoberfest comes to Brookhaven Animal Shelter with ‘Howl-O-Ween’ costume parade

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will hold its annual Howl-O-Ween Doggy Costume Parade on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The family-friendly event invites children to attend in costume for trick-or-treating and photo opportunities with adoptable dogs dressed in creative costumes, including a husky transformed into a frog princess, a bulldog banana split, and a Yorkshire terrier dressed as a pumpkin.

The parade kicks off “Barktoberfest,” which includes free animal adoptions from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31. All adoptions include spay or neuter services, vaccinations, microchips and testing for FIV/FELV, as well as flea and fecal treatment.

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter, located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
