ArtABILITY ‘24 to be held Spirit of Huntington Art Center
The ArtABILITY ‘24 exhibition will be held next week at the Spirit of Huntington Art Center in Huntington Station.
The event kicks off with an opening night reception from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 and continues with an exhibit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
ArtABILITITY is a traveling art exhibition that showcases the talents of individuals on Long Island and the surrounding area living with various physical and cognitive challenges.
The purpose of ArtABILITY is to educate the community about the remarkable talents of people with diverse abilities, inspire people to reach beyond their limitations to explore their own creativity, and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the arts.
The ArtABILITY exhibit features over 500 pieces created by students of all ages and abilities from 12 partnering organizations, including AABR, AHRC Suffolk, The Center for Developmental Disabilities, Central Nassau Guidance, FREE- Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Life’s WORC, RISE Life Services, TSINY- Transitional Services for New York Inc., Venture House, Winters Center for Autism, Suffolk YJCC Butler Center, and the Mid-Island YJCC Adler Center for Special Needs.
The Spirit of Huntington Art Center, located at 2 Melville Road in Huntington Station, offers art classes that provide a unique opportunity for students to enjoy a stress free, therapeutic environment that fosters creativity and self-esteem. ArtABILITY ‘24 celebrates the accomplishments of the artists and the many nonprofit partner organizations that support their day-to-day lives and who believe in the impact the arts can have on individuals with varying abilities.
