Plainview art collector supports Life’s WORC with $50K donation

Plainview resident Dr. Harvey Manes, a philanthropist and art collector, recently donated $50,000 to Life’s WORC, a Garden City-based nonprofit that supports people with special needs, including developmental disabilities and autism.

The donation, provided by the Manes Peace Prize Foundation, comes just two years after a previous $50,000 donation Dr. Manes made in honor of the organization’s 50th anniversary and their founder, Vicki Schneps.

During the presentation on Tuesday, Nov 12, Lynn Koufakis, chairwoman of the board of directors at Life’s WORC, praised Dr. Manes for his generosity and his commitment to improving the lives of the more than 2,000 people across the New York/metro area supported by the organization’s various programs.

“We are so grateful to Dr. Manes who continues to lead by example through his Peace Prize Foundation,” said Koufakis. “His compassion and concern for our clients, as well as his unwavering support, ensures that we can continue to expand the programs and services offered by Life’s WORC.”

The Manes Peace Prize Foundation’s funds will be used for a new art program to be offered by Life’s WORC.
