Monte’s sauces now available at Long Island Whole Foods

All three of Monte’s signature sauces, which are staple menu items Monte’s at the Manor in Montauk, are now available at all seven Whole Foods Markets across Long Island.

Monte’s is currently in about 1,000 stores nationwide, with a large concentration in the New York market where the brand was founded and grew up. Monte’s sauces can be found at Erewhon, Zabars, ShopRite, Fairway, Union Market, and many more retailers.

The Monte Family emigrated to Brooklyn from Italy in 1906 and began serving traditional Neapolitan fare to the community at the famed Monte’s Venetian Room. In 1956, the Monte family expanded eastward to purchase and manage the iconic Gurney’s Inn in Montauk.

The recipes and dishes that made the Brooklyn hangout famous were brought out east, and the small oceanfront hotel property was enhanced and expanded over the years to become the internationally acclaimed destination resort that it is today. In 2020, PJ Monte connected with his roots and started bottling the family’s famous red sauce.
