Applications now open for affordable housing in East Northport
Applications are now being accepted for a new affordable housing complex in East Northport.
The complex, known as Matinecock Court, has 146 limited-equity cooperative homes in 17 buildings on the northwest corner of Pulaski Road and Elwood Road. There are 18 one-bedroom units, 89 two-bedroom units and 38 three-bedroom units. Eight units are slated for residents with developmental disabilities and four are reserved for U.S. military veterans.
The prices of the co-ops vary according to income levels and size of units. Monthly maintenance fees range from $1,206 to $2,430, depending on income and size of the units. Prospective residents of Matinecock Court will have to meet income requirements that restrict ownership in the gated community to households earning between $38,000 and $134,960 a year.
The developers are Greenlawn-based Housing Help Inc. and Levittown-based D&F Development Group. The application deadline for the lottery is May 19 and the lottery is scheduled for June 2. The first residents are expected to be able to move in beginning in early July.
