Middle Island Walmart celebrates 30th anniversary

Walmart staff, shoppers and company executives celebrated the 30th anniversary of its store in Middle Island last week.

Carmen Volino has been with the Middle Island Walmart every step of the way. An original associate of the store, which was Walmart’s very first on Long Island, Volino was recognized last Friday when the Middle Island location at 750 Middle Country Road celebrated its anniversary with an event featuring local vendors and marking the official reopening of the Garden Center.

Walmart employs nearly 40,000 associates across New York State. In its fiscal year end 2024, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation contributed more than $24.7 million in cash and in-kind donations to local nonprofits in New York.
