Go behind the headlines at Fair Media Council event

Media heavyweights will be speaking at next month’s Fair Media Council program at the Garden City Hotel.

The Dec. 3 event, called The News Conference: Real & Powerful, will feature CNN Senior Political Analyst John Avlon and Margaret Hoover, CNN political commentator and host of PBS’  Firing Line (and great granddaughter of President Herbert Hoover), BuzzFeed News Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith, ProPublica President Richard Tofel and Sree Sreenivasan, Loeb Visiting Professor of Digital Innovation at Stony Brook University.

Besides those guest speakers, the News Conference will have a dozen panel discussions with professional journalists from Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. The topics are aimed at increasing media savvy, story pitching and networking with journalists.
