Suffolk Federal takes donations to heart

Suffolk Federal Credit Union is inviting its members to donate money to fight heart disease at its branch locations during February, recognized as American Heart Month.

Credit union members who make a donation at any of Suffolk Federal’s 10 locations will receive a contribution card that hangs in the branch where they donated. The money goes to the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and stroke, which the organization says are the leading causes of death worldwide every year.

In addition, every week during February the credit union hosts their Casual for a Cause program where Suffolk Federal employees can dress down for a donation to the American Heart Association.

“Every year our members and employees offer their widespread support for the American Heart Association through their contributions so that together, we can bring awareness and attention to heart disease and the importance of a healthy lifestyle,” said Ralph D. Spencer, president and CEO of Suffolk Federal, in a company statement. “This is one way we can encourage everyone to learn and understand the signs and symptoms of heart disease and to schedule regular doctor visits.”
