Home builders group to donate outdoor playhouses

The Long Island Builders Institute is giving away five handicap-accessible outdoor playhouses for special needs children.

The home-building trade group, through its Long Island Home Builders Care nonprofit, is donating the custom-made playhouses to Angela’s House in Stony Brook, Clark Street Park in Long Beach, Geiger Park in Babylon, New Interdisciplinary Pre-School in Yaphank and a residential home in Huntington.

The playhouses will be built and designed by Long Island Builders Institute volunteers and will be presented at the group’s annual L.I. Builders Home, Trade & Remodeling Expo. The event takes place at the Hilton Long Island in Melville on Friday, March 27 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The expo features nearly 100 exhibitors and features information about remodelers, assisted living, new homes and rentals. The event is open to the trade and public with free admission.
