Split The Bill NY offers half-off restaurant tabs

In an effort to support local restaurants, a new charitable initiative is offering rebates of up to $50 for customers of participating eateries.

Called Split The Bill NY, the program from the Sidgmore Family Foundation aims to drive business to local restaurants struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic by giving a reimbursement for 50 percent of customers’ restaurant receipts up to $50.

The pilot program launches Friday with several restaurants in the Village of Farmingdale, which have applied to participate in the initiative. The foundation hopes to expand to more locations in the future, contingent on available funds.

Customers who order takeout, delivery or drive-through food from participating restaurants can submit a reimbursement form confirming purchase of their meal and receive back 50 percent of their bill up to $50.

“Local restaurants are struggling,” Randi Sidgmore, founder and director of Massapequa-based Sidgmore Family Foundation, said in a written statement. “Split The Bill NY is a way for locals to support these restaurants and their community, in a mutually beneficial way.”

More information and a list of participating restaurants is available at splitthebillny.com.
