Six students get college scholarships from Suffolk Federal

Six Long Island high school seniors were awarded a total of $37,650 in college scholarships from Suffolk Federal Credit Union.

The scholarships are part of a partnership between Suffolk Federal and Suffolk County Community College, where all six students will be enrolled this fall.

Scholarship award recipients were judged based upon their academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities as well as the quality of written essays, according to a Suffolk Federal statement.

The six students, each receiving $6,275, include: Victoria Knotoff of Manorville; Robert Gronenthal of East Patchogue; Cheyenne Spillett of Medford; Chase Fusaro of Sound Beach; Emily Grieco of Bayport; and Nathaniel Polk of Bay Shore.

Michele Dean, president and CEO of Suffolk Federal, said lessening the financial burden on students and their families is a critical mission for the credit union.

“We acknowledge, honor and congratulate our talented and impressive scholarship recipients and celebrate their accomplishments,” Dean said in the statement. “We hope our scholarships will enable them to grow and focus on their future educational and career goals.”
